By: Trent Leith / October 24, 2025 Welcome to Trent’s Train of Thought, a series that, instead of diving deep into one topic, touches on several. This edition has thoughts on the goalie market, the next season for the Canucks and Vancouver’s new PWHL team.
PWHL Vancouver Jerseys
Well, at this moment, we have reached a switch in our tracks here at StadiumChinatown.ca. You see, obviously, we are Vancouver’s premier SkyTrain-themed hockey website, but we need to make a choice now. We have been holding meetings, gathering all the board members, polling staff, and pulling late nights, poring over a massive decision. Do we remain a Canucks focused website? Or do we also cover the PWHL Vancouver as well?
Well, you see, I made all that up, we haven’t polled staff… we have none. Because the three of us at this site all have equal say, I am just going to write about the PWHL as I see fit. I’m sure Brayden will as well. And our behind-the-scenes (for now?) partner Reid, well, he’s in Africa on a honeymoon at the moment, so he has to worry about lions, not trivial blog policy.
That said, PWHL Vancouver dropped their new jerseys for their inaugural season!
Some people see Oilers, some people see Rangers, I understand where they are coming from, however, let’s not get into the habit of comparing the women’s game to the men’s. There is no “Sidney Crosby of women’s hockey”, but there is the Hayley Wickenheiser of women’s hockey. There are no Rangers, or Oilers of women’s hockey.
It is hard to argue that blue, white and orange are also on the Oilers jersey. But we don’t see people comparing the Oilers to the New York Nicks.
Personally, I love these jerseys; they are a unique colour combo to Vancouver and have a certain old-school vibe about them. Mine is already on order. Word is, a name and logo will be announced before puck drops on November 21st as well.
The Bones are Good
Most Canucks fans who are also Baseball fans are either Seattle Mariners fans or Toronto Blue Jays fans. Obviously, both these teams are on deep runs, having both point reached the ALCS, and now the Blue Jays are about to start the World Series. It’s the talk of the town, headlining water-cooler talk in every office across the PNW.
Wouldn’t it be nice to feel this again as Canucks fans?
The big slugging stars Cal Raleigh and Vlad Guerrero were trading home runs. The clutch diving catches to strand runners on base. What if instead it was the high-flying offence of Connor McDavid and Quinn Hughes? And it was the big save that springs a two-on-one the other way?
I haven’t had that level of hockey excitement since I was 16. I am one year away from having suffered through two, 16 year Stanley Cup Final droughts. And you are too.
Can you imagine how exciting it’s going to feel walking around town and talking with neighbours? It’s going to be electric. And I feel like this current iteration of the team is the closest we’ve been to having that happen in a while. It feels like we have the bones to be a Stanley Cup-calibre team, but we just can’t quite turn the last corner.
Could this year be the year we turn that last corner? I’m not ruling it out yet.
It’s Been a Big Year For Us Too
Since the last off-season (2024) we have had a lot of change here at StadiumChinatown.ca. It’s not because there has been a massive influx of traffic or notoriety or anything like that. But it is because we have all hit major life milestones.
In August 2024, Brayden got married to his beautiful wife, Alissa!

Then, shortly after I got married to my wife (and pinch-hit editor) Darcy, in the rain!

Earlier this month Brayden and Alissa welcomed their baby boy, Jayce, into the world!

And then most recently, Reid joined the club and married his beautiful bride, Maggie! He is currently in Africa on a Safari for his Honeymoon!
