By: Trent Leith / December 5, 2021 It took booing on the broadcast, a jersey on the ice and constant badgering on Twitter, but the Vancouver Canucks finally made an off-ice change in hiring Bruce Boudreau as the team’s next head coach, as reported by Elliotte Friedman and Irfaan Gaffar.
At this point, nothing has been made official by the Vancouver Canucks in regards to hiring Boudreau or letting go Travis Green.
After being the head coach of the Anaheim Ducks and Washington Capitals, Boudreau was last employed as head coach of the Minnesota Wild. Boudreau has coached 984 NHL games with a record of 567-302-115 and has the second-highest winning percentage of coaches that have played over 900 games.
There is currently no word on further changes that could be coming to the organization.
Recently, fans have been chanting in the building for GM Jim Benning to be relieved of his duties, however, it seems like those at the top of the franchise see the coaching as a bigger issue. No official word has come from the team, with some speculating that more news could still be coming.
